Trisura Guarantee Insurance Company faced growing concerns over the resilience of its Azure environment. With critical applications and databases running in production, the absence of a robust disaster recovery (DR) strategy and redundancy model left the organization exposed to downtime risk. Deop partnered with Trisura to design and implement a multi-region disaster recovery architecture using Terraform and Microsoft Azure’s best practices. By modernizing SQL Managed Instance failover, storage replication, and application redundancy, Trisura gained a production-ready DR environment—improving resilience, reducing risk, and optimizing costs across their cloud infrastructure.
Trisura’s Azure footprint supported key applications but lacked built-in redundancy. Without DR, even a short regional outage could result in prolonged downtime, impacting services and regulatory compliance. Lower environment connections added unnecessary complexity and risk. The organization needed a clear strategy to implement disaster recovery in Azure—one that was automated, compliant, and cost-effective.

Deop delivered a comprehensive disaster recovery transformation with a focus on automation and technical excellence:
Disaster Recovery Design & Terraform Automation: A multi-region DR architecture codified in Terraform to ensure repeatability and compliance.
SQL Managed Instance Redundancy: Configured failover groups for SQL MI to provide automatic recovery and minimize downtime.
Storage & Key Vault Replication: Implemented geo-redundant storage and cross-region key vault redundancy for secure continuity.
App Services Resilience: Enhanced application layer with redundancy, ensuring critical services remain available during failover events.
Access & Governance Improvements:Simplified environment connections, removing unnecessary lower-environment dependencies.
The DR solution was built entirely through Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), ensuring consistency and version-controlled automation. Technical achievements included cross-region SQL MI failover design, automated storage replication, and application redundancy testing. By leveraging Azure’s built-in DR capabilities and extending them with Terraform, the solution provided both speed and scalability. The architecture followed Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework while integrating seamlessly into Trisura’s existing governance and security model.
